Cortina d'AmpezzoLagazuoi EXPO Dolomiti

1

During the First World War, Lagazuoi (2.835 m) was the border between Veneto and South Tyrol, which at the time was part of the Habsburg monarchy. For this reason, Lagazuoi was a war front. Even today, it is still possible to see the caves from which the cannons were fired. The greatest enemy of both sides was always the bitter cold that prevailed above 2,000 meters. From Lagazuoi you can see the Fanes group, the Tofane, the Civetta, the Marmolata, the Sorapis, the Pelmo and so on.

KronplatzLumen Museum

2
A museum dedicated to mountain photography, it was set up inside the old Riscone-Plan de Corones cable car mountain station and opened in 2018. The modern building, reconceived by architect Mahlknecht from Bruneck, has been populated with photos, memorabilia, technology and unique pieces that help to relive the history of mountain photography in a modern, interactive and spectacular way. In addition, the Lumen Museum also has space for conferences, courses, exhibitions and events of various kinds, as it is also directly connected to the AlpINN restaurant, run by the Michelin-starred chef Norbert Niederkofler. Conveniently accessible by the Plan de Corones cable car, it is also an excellent idea for a day trip.

Alta BadiaMovimënt park - emotions for everyone

Don't miss the Bike Beats trails for lovers of long bike rides on prepared trails for adrenalin junkies. There is also a 'Nature Smart Working', an outdoor workstation with wifi.

Val GardenaUNESCO panoramic terrace at Mastlé

4
The second of 66 panoramic terraces in the Unesco World Natural Heritage Dolomites is located on the Mastlé in S.Cristina di Val Gardena. It was built based on the model of the first one erected on Monte Specie/Strudelkopf in the Fanes-Senes-Braies nature park in the municipality of Dobbiaco, and inaugurated in 2015. The prototype was developed by architect David Messner together with his father, artist Franz Messner, using a sustainable building typology. An object related to the surrounding environment was created; the steel structure, at the centre of which is a list of the peaks that can be admired from the vantage point, was filled with stones and soil found on site.

Alpe di SiusiObservation plattform „Engelrast“

5

The viewing platform Engelrast (“angels’ rest”) on the Puflatsch offers a breathtaking 360° panoramic view over the Seiser Alm, Europe’s largest mountain plateau, the Val Gardena valley and the Dolomites mountains. The platform is surrounded by a metal plate that offers a detailed description of the fantastic mountain panorama over the entire Seiser Alm with Schlern, Plattkofel and Langkofel mountain and the surrounding mountain ranges. You can find out which mountains you can see in which direction and how high the peaks are. A nice detail of this platform is the little angel enthroned above this vantage point. A visit to this magnificent viewpoint with some wooden benches is worthwhile. The Engelrast is located near the mountain station of the Telemix Puflatsch. You can reach the viewing platform on foot from Compatsch on the Seiser Alm following the hiking trail n. 14 or by taking the Puflatsch cable car.

3 Zinnen DolomitesThe dwarf village at Monte Baranci

9

Set up in the family recreation area at the top of Monte Baranci near San Candido, the Gnome Village consists of wooden huts suspended in the trees, which can be reached and explored by means of rope bridges suspended in the air, which take visitors from one leaf to another. The Gnomes, on the other hand, live in the nine huts on the ground. This is a nice novelty, especially for families who go up to Baranci with the four-seater chairlift that departs from the centre of San Candido or by walking on one of the easy paths that lead up to the heights.

Rio Pusteria – BressanonePanoramic platform Gitschberg

12
The Lorggen circular trail starts at the top station of the Plose cable car and runs along the WoodyWalk until it branches off to a large viewing platform. Due to its strategic position, from here there is a beautiful view of the Dolomites showing their most beautiful side. The path continues on a slight incline through an ancient forest, which has some unexpected surprises in store.
